Mattie, Daddy, and a Happy Anniversary!

John and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary on July 7th. To celebrate, we got take out from one of our favorite burger joints in Kansas City, took it to the hospital, ate it in the cafeteria, and then had a lovely visit with Mattie. I know, so romantic, huh?

After 21 years, you learn to have a sense of humor, enjoy life, and not take any thing for granted. Yes, my husband is a temporary en valid. Yes, my son is STILL in the PICU. Sure a nice dinner out or weekend away would have been quite lovely, but I’ve counted my blessings and have come to the conclusion that they add up to VERY, VERY blessed.

21 years later, I am more in love with this man than ever before in my life. I would do it all over again, every bit of it. We’ve had 21 incredible years of living and loving through joy and failure. It’s not about doing it all perfectly. It’s about loving well in the midst of it. After talking about the past 21 years together, we’ve determined that the good days far outweigh the bad days, and that even the bad days have driven us together in a way that nothing else could.

I love this man and am so glad the Lord chose him to be mine in this life.
Not gonna lie though, I’ll be happy when he’s back on two feet again though.

And well Mattie is just sooo adorable and getting in some cuddles is AMAZING 🙂

  2. Wishing you many, many more happy, healthy, love-filled, God-centered years together!! Also praying that every day, in every way, both John and Mattie are getting better and better!
